So much has gone on since starting this commission. As you may or may not know, I recently moved to Los Angeles. And by recently, I mean on the 8th. It's been about two weeks now and I can definitely say it's been an adjustment. I'm having a difficult time, I'll admit. Granted, impatience is my middle name so when things don't happen expediently I become frustrated. Honestly, I just erased a huge section I had written about my time in L.A. thus far, my reasoning being I don't want to be that guy anymore. No longer do I want to be called out on shit I wrote six months ago, or have someone mention to me something personal I wrote in my blog about my feelings on any given subject. Because stupidly, as a writer you don't really expect those close to you to actually read your material. It's more for the strangers that you're trying to relate to. It's an odd thought process, I know. So anyway, I'm going to stick to the shoes from now on. Well, for the most part. You know me...
Can you believe these were leopard print before? Not only a pattern, but a textured one at that. I presumed they would require at least five coats of paint to create a smoother surface to work on. And they did. But surprisngly, the rest was smooth sailing. When I've painted over fabric, the results are always great. Why? Because the paint absorbs into the textile very well, creating a smooth, sturdy surface to work on. Suede and calfskin leather are almost too soft. Anyway, I wanted to make these resemble the retail version as much as possible so I painted the trim gold and the bottom red. The last part was Isabel's request. I'm very pleased with how these turned out.

I can relate on the family/relatives reading/stalking blog thing. :/ I always felt my blog was my space to voice my opinion and share my interest and obsessions with like you said, strangers.
ReplyDeleteI learned the hard way that blog is public. It's never fair, but we are who we are, and if they're reading our blogs..it just means they're noisy and care enough about what we have to say to visit!
Love your work, always. <3
